Forbidden Love(poem)

Forbidden Love by Gloria Skeeters

Beseech me not with thy touch.

I have little and ask not much.

Thou born of wealth, class and style,

Do not entice me with beguile.

Shall we borrow from tomorrow

Pain and tears, a life of sorrow?

Nay, our love is not to be,

Tis not our path of destiny.

But, promise me in aged days,

If of a mind that is not hazed,

Thou shall in fondest memories,

Smile and give a thought of me.

When we reach life's exit door,

And we are on the other shore,

Our hearts can join and gladly sing,

"Oh, Victory! Death where's thy sting?"

Then we can share, as not before,

Forbidden love forever more
